Russia 2018: Nigeria releases 30-man provisional squad; Simy, Lokosa make list

The Super Eagles’ manager, Gernot Rohr, has released his 30-man provisional list for the Russia 2018 World Cup. The list released on Monday included two surprises – Junior Lokosa, who has scored 18 goals in the Nigeria Professional Football League, and Simeon [Simy] Nwankwo, who scored five goals for Italian Serie A side, Crotone, in April. From the angle he has operated since his tenure kicked off 21 months ago, the inclusions were a major surprise, as one thing about the former Bayern Munich defender is consistency. However, the main question answered by Rohr’s list was the exclusion of Vincent Enyeama. There have been continuous calls that the 35-year-old be invited as he seemed the most viable option between the sticks but the counter argument has been that the Eagles should not repeat the Peter Rufai mistake of 1998. Rohr has often stated that he is more interested in building for the future than retracing his steps. And on the issue of goalkeeping, he said he would

Salah faces ban

30 APRIL 2018 MO SALAH faces an anxious wait to see if he could be banned from Liverpool’s final two Prem games. And that may give Spurs ace Harry Kane an extra boost as he seeks to haul back Salah’s five-goal lead in the race for the Golden Boot. FA disciplinary beaks are expected to refer Salah’s clash with Stoke’s Bruno Martins Indi during Saturday’s goalless draw at Anfield to the three-man panel of ex-referees to rule if it was a red card offence. The FA have been alerted to social media clips of the incident, in which the Egyptian superstar appears to flail a balled hand at Stoke’s Dutch defender near the half-way line. Referee Andre Marriner did not spot the incident, which took place just before half-time. Under FA rules, potential violent conduct incidents missed by the officials are referred to the panel of former whistlers, who must unanimously agree it was a sending off. Last week, West Brom’s Ahmed Hegazi avoided action when the three former refs —

He says because of this, BBNaija winner, Miracle and other housemates too, have indirectly become affiliated with the infamous clan. Recall that in a new interview following the end of the BBNaija show, Nina said she can never be Miracle’s girlfriend. That she was going back to her boyfriend, Collins and won’t pursue a relationship with BBNaija
