Why we bought N700m residence for Sultan in Abuja – Sokoto govt

The purchase of N700 million residence for the Sultan of Sokoto Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar in Abuja followed due process, the Sokoto State Government said yesterday. .
.
The government was responding to the alleged interrogation of the Chief of Staff to the Sultan, Alhaji Kabiru Tafida by the EFCC on Tuesday and Wednesday over a suspicious transfer of
N700 million into his account from the Sokoto State government account. .
.
But the Special Adviser to Governor Aminu Tambuwal on Media and Publicity Imam Imam said in a statement that the N700million was for the “provision and furnishing of Sultanate Council office and residence in Abuja.” .
.
He said the funds were captured under the state capital estimates of 2016 supplementary budget and 2017 budget. EFCC sources said they were trying to establish why the funds were channelled through the personal account of the Sultan’s senior aide. .
.
The Secretary to the Sultanate Council, Alhaji Faruk Umar, said, “The Sokoto State Government, concerned by lack of a befitting office and residential accommodation for use by officials and members of the Sultanate Council, approved within its capital estimates 2016 Supplementary Budget and 2017 Budget, the sum of N200m and N500 million respectively, provision and furnishing of of Sultanate Council office and residence in Abuja.”

STOP KILLING US: Alumnus Cries out to UNILORIN.

When I was in 300L, UNILORIN, my hostel got robbed. The assailants hacked a girl with a cutlass on her cheek bone, very close to her eye. She was cooking when the attack happened & had a short skirt and tank top on. It was her distress call that brought me out. I took her to the school clinic. We got to the gate and we got delayed by the guards. They kept on asking for ID Card. I had my purse & my card was in it. But the girl was bleeding out, barely holding in place. I had to BEG for them to let us in. It was a mess. We got to the clinic & instead of them giving DY first Aid, they started asking us why she wasn't with her ID Card. Why she was not properly dressed. DY was bleeding out. I tried calling LukmanShobowale who was the SU President then but he was unreachable. I called BodeWrites & he told me Eminent wasn't around. I wanted to call other SU excos but at that point it would be stupid. DY was still bleeding and she was getting light headed. Ther...
