GAIN ADMISSION WITHOUT LONG LEG

Congratulations you made it here.

It was confirmed to US from Jamb 2017 statistics that over 1.7million candidates applied for Jamb 2017 examinations.

According to Prof. Oloyode , Just 901 of the candidates scored 270 and above, 72,243 made between 250 – 269; 601,151 scored 200 – 249; 374, 920 scored 170 – 199 while 336, 330 failed as they scored 170 which is below the 180 cut-off mark. This has increased the  Competition between candidates for admission.

According to a report by the Economic Intelligence magazine from the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, on the preferred first university of choice in 2017, the University of Ilorin has the highest applications with 104,038 student-applicants. The figure represents almost about 10 per cent of the 1,212,818 total applicants seeking admissions into the 40 federal universities in Nigeria.

UNILORIN is followed by Ahmadu Bello University, ABU, Zaria in Kaduna with student-applicants of 89,688.
University of Benin, Edo State, is third in the ranking with 85,486 applicants; University of Nigeria Nsukka, Enugu, is the fourth with 79,073 applicants, University of Lagos, UNILAG, is the fifth with 78,899 while Bayero University Kano, BUK, comes sixth with 68,241 students applicants.

All these statistics has Increased the tension of candidates with universities having the capacities to admit just few numbers of applicants.

With some candidates having to repeat Jamb exams 2, 3 to 4 times and all other Challenges leading to admission failure, students  tends to seek for alternatives means of securing admission into the University among which are Predegree programs, A Level program ( IJMB,  JUPEB,  etc)  and many others.

Among all IJMBE (INTERIM JOINT MATRICULATION BOARD EXAMINATION) as been selected by many scholars and professors as the best alternative to secure admission into the University. It is designed to ameliorate problems of admission for candidates seeking admission into Nigeria University instead of JAMB.

For the students who failed the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, there is still another option of gaining university admission, a lecturer at the University of Ilorin has said.

He added that students who are not willing to wait to retake another UTME can opt for the Interim Joint Matriculation Board examination, which is an A-level nine-month course moderated by Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

“IJMB provides a very good opportunity for students to not only gain admission, it also helps students ease into the university life seamlessly,” He said.

The NIGERIA UNIVERSITY COMMISSION(NUC) has also certified IJMB as an A’ level programme that qualify students into 200 level in the university upon successful completion of the programme. CHECK JAMB BROCHURE TO CONFIRM.

PROGRAMME DURATION: IJMB A’level programme runs for a maximum period of one academic session(8-11month) divided in two(2) semesters.

STOP KILLING US: Alumnus Cries out to UNILORIN.

When I was in 300L, UNILORIN, my hostel got robbed. The assailants hacked a girl with a cutlass on her cheek bone, very close to her eye. She was cooking when the attack happened & had a short skirt and tank top on. It was her distress call that brought me out. I took her to the school clinic. We got to the gate and we got delayed by the guards. They kept on asking for ID Card. I had my purse & my card was in it. But the girl was bleeding out, barely holding in place. I had to BEG for them to let us in. It was a mess. We got to the clinic & instead of them giving DY first Aid, they started asking us why she wasn't with her ID Card. Why she was not properly dressed. DY was bleeding out. I tried calling LukmanShobowale who was the SU President then but he was unreachable. I called BodeWrites & he told me Eminent wasn't around. I wanted to call other SU excos but at that point it would be stupid. DY was still bleeding and she was getting light headed. Ther
